Flax Seed label claims and nutrient content claims regarding flaxseed usage and omega 3 per serving requirements

Products containing ALA Omega 3 from flaxseed qualify for Nutrient content Claims and Structure Function Claims. The following claims for ALA Omega 3 from flaxseed can be made using "x" amount of flaxseed:
1.3 grams of flaxseed per serving corresponds to a claim of: "High source of ALA Omega 3" or "Rich source of ALA Omega 3" or "Excellent" source of ALA Omega 3"
0.65 grams of flaxseed per serving corresponds to a claim of: "Good Source of ALA Omega 3" or "More ALA Omega 3 (than reference food)"

These claims must be accompanied in close proximity by one of the following statements:
"Contains __ mg of ALA per serving, which is __% of the Daily Value for ALA (1.3g)"
"Contains __ % of the Daily Value of ALA per serving. The Daily Value for ALA is 1.3g"

For "More" claims:
" __% more of the Daily Value for ALA per serving than (reference food). This product contains __ mg ALA Omega 3 per serving which is __% of the Daily Value for ALA Omega 3 (1.3g). (Reference food) contains __mg ALA Omega 3 per serving".

Structure Function Claims describe the effect a food product has on the normal structure or function of the body. These need not be pre-reviewed by the FDA, but they must be true and not misleading to the customer. Also, this claim must not say, explicitly or implicitly, that the food product will prevent, cure, mitigate or treat a disease or any symptoms commonly associated with a disease. For example, a Structure Function Claim can state that the product helps alleviate "mild memory loss associated with ageing," but not that it aids in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Examples of appropriate Structure Function Claims include: "Supports Cardiovascular Health" and "Supports General Health".
